Guest Guide

What you should bring

  • A well-fitting mask, snorkel and comfortable fins will ensure you have fantastic experiences

  • Polarized sunglasses allow you to see into the water.

  • Indonesian currency (cash) for village fees, guides and boat drivers.

  • Eco-friendly only products, like shampoo/conditioner/sunscreen.

  • Sun protection: Wide sun-hat, long-sleeved shirts/tops, long cotton pants, UV top/tights for snorkeling. Only zinc sunscreen (we recommend not using most brands)

  • While staying onboard 'St Francis' you can have your meals brought in or we can have a cook prepare meals onboard for you, or you can cook for yourselves. Please note, the kitchen is very basic and refrigeration is very limited.

* Apart from beer, alcohol is difficult to find and it's expensive. Bring your favorite wines and spirits (well packed) with you.

* We encourage guests to make sustainable choices when buying or ordering fish.

Generally speaking, pelagic fish (deep water, free-swimming) are more sustainable than reef fish.

Mackerel, tuna or mahi mahi are better choices. If you do buy or order reef fish just make sure they are not too small ie. they had a chance to breed before they were caught.

  • Every day in Waisai (45mins in a longboat from 'St Francis') there's a fresh fruit, vegetable & fish market with a good range. Delicious local meals are usually vegetables, rice and fish (sometimes chicken).
